Buying a watch for yourself or as a gift can be a nerve-racking task. You might be able to get away with Taobao shirts and pants, but it’s a lot easier to discern a high-quality watch from a cheap one. It’s easy to copy a design, but that’s not the case for material and craftsmanship.
A good balance of affordability and quality, Kent Hall & Co is a humble local watch brand that’s simply in the market to fuel their passion for quality timepieces.
Here’s what I got
Kent Hall & Co’s Castleton Steel is a classy piece that leaps on a key trend in the watch space — green dials. Remember the launch of Patek Philippe Nautilus and Rolex Datejust 36?
But green isn’t just a short-lived trend. What was considered a jarring and unfashionable colour option, is now sweeping the fashion world. It’s calming, it’s approachable, and it signifies luxury.
The quality of the Castleton Steel for its price is just incredible. It’s crafted with 316L stainless steel, which is known for its high resistance and durability, and sapphire crystal glass. Furthermore, in terms of functionality, it’s powered by a Japanese Automatic Movement with up to 40 hours of power reserve, and it’s also water resistant.
When I first received the watch, I was shocked. Yes, the design is obviously stunning. But I was surprised by how wide the watch band was. I could literally fit my hand in without unbuckling it. Fortunately, Kent Hall & Co designed their bands with easy-to-remove links.
A small tool is included in the box (a hidden compartment on the right), which allows customers to easily customise the watch to better fit their wrists. The instructions are on Kent Hall & Co’s website, but it’s essentially just pushing the pins out with the tool. The whole process took me 15 minutes and it is a perfect fit after removing four links.
If green isn’t your colour, the Nova Automatic series also comprises the Arctic Steel, which is the blue-dial counterpart of the Castleton.
The series also comprises variations in black, blue and brown leather.
To purchase, simply head to their online store to checkout. All their watches comes with free shipping and a one-year warranty.
